Robot Building, Bankok (1986)

The Robot Building located in the Sathorn business district of Bangkok, Thailand, houses United Overseas Bank's Bangkok headquarters. It was designed for the Bank of Asia by Sumet Jumsai to reflect the computerization of banking; its architecture is a reaction against neoclassical and high-tech postmodern architecture. The building's features, such as progressively receding walls, antennas, and eyes, contribute to its robotic appearance and to its practical function. Completed in 1986, the building is one of the last examples of modern architecture in Bangkok (via Wikipedia).

2022 WWDC

This last WWDC was a new low. Deeply lame effects and corny jokes. 

Feels like the door is wide open for a new player to enter as the challenger brand and call Apple what it’s starting to feel like… old.

BowieNet, 1998

David Bowie launched his own internet service provider (ISP) in 1998. The ISP operated in the US and UK, competing with AOL and Claranet. For a monthly fee, members would get exclusive access to news feeds (powered by Lycos lol!) music videos, audio recordings and chat rooms that David would often participate in. Users would also get an email address ending in @davidbowie.com and 20MB to build their own custom homepages. SICK! BowieNet also offered 3D avatar chats, a user-controllable web-connected camera for viewing live concerts and BowieNet Radio, an online radio station with Bowie as DJ. At the launch of the ISP, Bowie announced a songwriting contest. The winner would later meet Bowie to record the song live on a webcast – see: "David Bowie Records First Cyber Song 'what's Really Happening' Live On The Web."

How wild right? Most bands/artists were still struggling to get online in 1998. This dude was so far ahead of his time. Hope some of this is covered in the Brett Morgen's new film – see below:

Most of it is just some sort of reflection of my interests — sports, technology, working (see marketing, branding), and reflections on those things. 

Firmware®

There was a congressional hearing a few weeks back regarding UFOs. This was the first public UFO hearing in half a century. RARE! 

And yet, I didn't hear anything about it. It's like nobody noticed. 

Firmware is described as a type of software that is etched directly into a piece of hardware. It operates without going through APIs, the operating system, or device drivers—providing the needed instructions and guidance for the device to communicate with other devices or perform a set of basic tasks and functions as intended. 

I'm convinced that our firmware does not allow us to think about or communicate with each other about anything that could be a threat to our species – we are programmed to avoid thinking about an intelligence more advanced than our own or anything that could bring into question the constructs of our reality. Our programming instructs us to think about other things and guides us with new distractions.

💡 idea(!) Apple Facetime TV

I want Apple to make a TV that allows me to facetime from my living room. The last 2-years have made everyone much more comfortable being on camera during calls. However, facetiming family members still feels somewhat inconvenient because of the need to hold the phone up or find something to prop it up against (usually resulting in a terrible angle). AppleTV+ is such a huge success, I am not sure why they wouldn't want to own the screen too? Apple Fitness would also benefit. Plus, Apple is already making beautiful displays. Why not beautiful displays for the living room? 

🎶 Music – MUNA

We saw Muna back in February 2017. They put on an incredible show. There were 50 people max in this super small venue. The photo above shows how close we were to the band. I share this because I want you to know that we've been listening to this band for a long time. And that we are cool. And that everything you think is cool now we knew about 5 years ago. I want you to know that. I DESPERATELY WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT. Anyway, we were super excited when Muna signed to Phoebe Bridgers label (another artist that we've seen live and have been listening to a REALLY long time – like, so long) because it meant that they were going to get more support to make their music. Their new album is coming out next month and their new singles don't disappoint.

Their latest song, Home By Now, has been called "A DANCE SONG with BRUTAL LYRICS." It's very good. The art direction is also super cool.
