Kiwi Jr. – Maid Marian's Toast
Has a sort of Vampire Weekend meets mid-90s vibe to it (think REM!). Very good. Definitely digging into this band. Sophomore album released by Sub Pop (all you really need to know!).

Jensen McRae – Immune
I first heard this song on Twitter a few weeks ago. It was originally written as a parody of Phoebe Bridgers and her super descriptive (super dark) songwriting style. Jensen McRae tweeted: “In 2023, Phoebe Bridgers is gonna drop her third album & the opening track will be about hooking up in the car while waiting in line to get vaccinated at Dodger Stadium and it’s gonna make me cry." The tweet went viral and she decided to write a full song. It definitely sounds like a Phoebe Bridgers cover. 

Billie Marten – Garden of Eden
Super talented. 21 years old. Great song and killer art direction for the album cover/music video.

Hey Steph, how do you stay moisturized in such a dry climate?

Big secret here... Snail Mucin. Transformational. Slimy. What is it you ask? It's basically the slime that snails leave in their wake ...also known as the snail trail 🐌. It sounds nasty and it is. But, it seals in moisture better than anything else out there. Other go-to products include GoopGlow Vitamin-C serum and Le Prunier. Who knew there was a snail emoji?

Hey Steph, do you have any recommendations for vases?

Fresh flowers are the best way to brighten up a room, but flowers are only as pretty as the vase they live in. My favorite vase of all time is this Mondrian vase I picked up a few years ago from the MoMa design store. Sadly, it is no longer available. Another favorite is the tree trunk vase from Hay.

What's your wardrobe look like lately?
I've been getting very into overalls. Don got me a pair from Carhartt WIP back in December and I wear them 3-7 days a week. They fit my requirements for clothing. Comfortable. Cozy. And very effective at attracting and collecting all of Murphy's hair.

Dig everything about this. Feels very early 2000s. Sort of a Dashboard Confessional sound. A sound that I'm very ok with.

Beach Bunny – Blame Game
Suddenly, every female band sounds like Soccer Mommy or Snail Mail. Don't hate it.

Dayglow – Close To You
Really nice. Feels a bit like Rebounder.

Kings of Leon - 100,000 People
It's ok. It's not great. But there is something about that simple riff. It will grow on you. 

Sanctuary – Hiss Golden Messenger
Nice little folksy jam.

The new HAIM 3 AM Toro y Moi remix slaps. It feels super late-90s in all the right ways. Almost a Semisonic "Closing Time" vibe to it. Haim's The Steps made our top 20 of 2020 list.

Other new music worth checking out – The Avalanches' new album We Will Always Love You, specifically The Divine Chord featuring MGMT.

The new Noah Cyrus track, All Three, is very dark and very good. I think this is the year the world finally recognizes Noah Cyrus is for real.

Big shout to Steph on this one. She made me go see Noah Cyrus perform in 2018 and I was way wrong – I left fully merch'd out and a total Noah believer. Other tracks to check out if you are new to Noah – July, Good Cry, Punches.
