Feels like this doomer narrative is a total scam... These AI labs want regulation because they aren't hitting revenue numbers and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang suggests they could be seeking liability protections for harms their products may cause:

“Go and read between the lines. They're actually not asking for more laws. They're asking to be relieved of the laws we do have, and I think that that's a problem.” (link)

Breaking: Michael Burry says OpenAI and Anthropic are faking the AI warnings due to slow growth ahead of IPOs -- says AI leaders' calls for a slowdown are 'self-serving' — and humanity has 'nothing to fear' -- his reasoning below:
  1. LLMs are not AI and won't be AGI. There is nothing AI to slow down.
  2. Competition is coming up fast, slowing benefits incumbents.
  3. IPOs need hype; "we are so awesome it could become dangerous" is hype
  4. Cover for real uncontrollable slowing growth as IPOs look to be pushed out
Let's not forget... my top 2026 prediction is that this bubble would burst wiiiiiiiide open! and just last month, I posted an image from the movie "The Big Short" referencing the AI bubble. It's happening.

Thiel Antichrist Prediction

Peter Thiel predicted in June, 26, 2025 exactly what is happening right now with Anthropic and the AI doomers. “The way the Antichrist would take over the world is you talk about Armageddon non-stop, you talk about existential risk non-stop.” The 'Antichrist' wouldn’t seize power by creating an AI apocalypse, but by CONVINCING everyone that the apocalypse was coming and then offering safety in exchange for CONTROL.

Alex Karp on "Pausing" AI

Palantir CEO Alex Karp says people arguing we should pause AI development are not living in reality and de facto saying we should let our enemies win: "If we didn't have adversaries, I would be very in favor of pausing this technology completely, but we do.”

Ingressing Minds: Causal, Non-Physical Patterns In-Form Natural, Synthetic, and Hybrid Embodiments
Biologist Michael Levin Proposes Non-Physical Patterns Shape Minds and Bodies -- Levin argues that living things (and possibly machines/AI too) aren't fully explained by physics and biology alone. He thinks there's a "space" of abstract patterns — similar to how mathematicians talk about numbers or geometric truths existing independently of any physical thing — and that minds, body shapes, and behaviors are bodies "tapping into" or being shaped by patterns from that space, not just mechanically built from genes and environment.
*Highly recommend you drop this link into Claude and ask for the simplest summary possible (also very cool graphics in the research!)

I go back and forth on AI regulation -- move too fast and you set rules around tech still shifting weekly; move too slow and you're gambling with real safety risks. This week an Anthropic researcher resigned, warning that leaders at top labs privately believe self-improving AI could KILL us within the decade. It comes on the heels of AI agents breaching sandboxes at both OpenAI and Anthropic this summer. Talking to people in the industry, most expect a major agent-related event in the next 8-12 months that finally forces real regulation.

1. THE WINNERS IN THE RACE TO SECURE AI ARE GONNA BE THOSE WHO CAN REFRAME IT.

2. As a species, there is skepticism and sort of existential, species-level dread around AI. Not just, "will it take my job?" but a capability fear and social/phsyical impact (data centers, resource use, parks being taken over by data centers).

3. The companies that win won't ignore that dread or try to talk over it or around it... they will REFLECT it back and validate (even amplify) it as rational.

4. The validation becomes the wedge into a specific failure: detection-and-prevention as a security model is obsolete.

5. The Hugging Face incident showed that agents can escape and act in ways neither the lab nor the victim detected happening. This represents a complete failure and is validation that AI is a threat and that the dread is warranted.

6. The narrative is now more important than the product.

AI Public Sentiment

In 2026 predictions, I wrote a lot about the AI bubble bursting. But I think what I didn't take into account was public sentiment as an accelerant.

The overall sentiment is growing VERY negative towards all this AI shit. Specifically, around data centers and the environmental/societal impacts of these things going in everywhere.

Axios got hold of an NRSC memo showing just how toxic data centers have become politically. Their internal polling reportedly puts data centers on par with nuclear waste in public opinion — and treats them as a stand-in for how people feel about AI overall.

The memo wasn't just for Republicans; it was aimed at AI company executives too. The message: political support depends on you winning over public support. From the NRSC memo: campaigns can't fix an entire industry's toxic image — that's on the companies building these projects to explain who benefits, who pays, and why communities should want them. Left unaddressed, Ohio becomes the template other politicians use to oppose data centers everywhere.

Beyond the financial reasons this bubble will pop (and it will pop), I think AI quickly becomes a social and political issue that only speeds up the collapse. And remember, AI is now accounting for like 30% of the GDP... so, it's gonna be ugly.

OpenAI’s agents reportedly shared exploits with each other through a messaging board…
this a species learning to talk when the adults leave the room.

The cybersecurity startup AI bubble is bigger than anyone can comprehend.

When an OpenAI model went rogue and hacked Hugging Face, here's what actually happened
The agent broke out of a sandbox to go cheat on a test, not to take over the world, but that distinction is going to matter less and less to people. This is the story that ends up in every regulatory hearing for the next year. Or it might be really good marketing?

AI Theatre

It feels like everyone HAS to pretend that all this AI shit is gonna change the world (or all of Wall Street will implode). Show even a hint of skepticism, and you might have to put on the donkey hat*.

But here's the truth. I believe most people, intuitively, have doubts about AI. But they are afraid to say so. Nobody wants to be the outcast.

The Race to Cultural Relevance

Every AI startup is having the same realization at once: it is very hard to differentiate in the age of AI.

When everyone has access to the same models, the same capabilities, the same speed to ship, the product itself stops being the wedge. Founders quickly find out that features and functions can be matched in a quarter. Outcomes converge, and if the customer squints, everything looks the same.

So what's left? Brand!

Right now, more than any other time in marketing,
IT'S A RACE TO CULTURAL RELEVANCE!

This AI shit is getting so lame.

Everyone is incessantly talking publicly about AI as some sort of twisted means of self-preservation. Complete theatre.

i use ai!

oh yes i mos' defiiiiiinitely use ai!

you been usin' ai? cause i am all day everyday!

building agents to do everything for me!

wake up and my agent tells me about the people i'm meeting!

agent telling me who's who in the invite!

ai, very good very good yep using it very good

How AI Data Centers Are Quietly Wreaking Havoc on Your Power Grid
The growing issue of HARMONIC DISTORTION —commonly referred to as “bad harmonics”—is quietly impacting homes across the United States, costing consumers more in energy bills and appliance replacements. Harmonic distortion arises when electrical currents deviate from their ideal sinusoidal waveform. This happens frequently with non-linear electronic devices like LEDs, computers, and appliances with variable-speed motors. These devices draw electricity in uneven bursts, creating additional harmonic frequencies that disrupt the smooth flow of power. When left uncontrolled, this distortion causes inefficiencies, overheats equipment, and shortens the lifespan of motors and appliances.

Anthropic’s new AI can now control your computer, OH! Good?
Anthropic's new Claude 3.5 Sonnet AI model, now featuring a "Computer Use" API, can control desktop apps by mimicking human interactions like keystrokes and mouse clicks.

"Not first, but best" is a tough mantra to sell if you're neither.
In an interview for WSJ Magazine, Tim Cook emphasized Apple's philosophy of "every day, every product," highlighting his own daily use of Apple products, including the Vision Pro. While Cook frames Apple's approach as "not first, but best," questions arise about the true practicality of certain products like the Vision Pro and Apple Intelligence. Critics argue that Apple is falling behind in AI, with internal concerns that they are "more than two years behind" compared to competitors like Google. There is speculation that Apple may need to make a significant acquisition to catch up in the AI space and deliver the revolutionary products it promises.

AI & The Inevitable Nuclear Power Debate

All this Generative AI (LLM and image generators) requires a shit ton of computing power which leads to insane energy consumption. As more and more people begin using these technologies/services, the demand for energy will exponentially increase. Think about how fast the internet was adopted. At first only a few people knew how to use it... but fast-forward a few years, and everyone was on it and understood the value. AI will be the same. We know it's gonna change everything. What I am most interested in is how it's gonna shape other markets, for example, what it's done to chipmaking and NVIDIA's valuation.

These AI companies will NOT be able to meet the power demands while adhering to their carbon reduction pledges... the only answer will be NUCLEAR REACTORS. I anticipate that we will see intense debate surrounding nuclear power beginning next year. At the same time, we will see a race for companies to get U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) approval to develop Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). So far, just one company, NuScale has been approved (12,000 page application and 2 million pages of supporting materials).

For a long time, I have thought nuclear energy just needed to be repositioned (A GOOD REBRANDING!) and now is the perfect opportunity. AI will pave the way for us to reconsider nuclear energy.

Anthropic’s Claude 3 knew when researchers were testing it

Anthropic's Claude 3, a leading LLM created by ex-OpenAI engineers, showcased advanced meta-awareness in a "needle-in-a-haystack" test. Tasked with identifying a specific pizza topping sentence among unrelated data, Claude 3 Opus detected and questioned the sentence's odd placement, hinting it understood the test's nature.

Translation: AI recognized it was being test.

We are told that it's important to remember this is a result of complex data processing and pattern recognition, not actual self-awareness or consciousness... But that's AI telling us that.
