The social-media Web as we knew it, a place where we consumed the posts of our fellow-humans and posted in return, appears to be over.
The Internet today feels emptier, like an echoing hallway, even as it is filled with more content than ever. It also feels less casually informative. Twitter in its heyday was a source of real-time information, the first place to catch wind of developments that only later were reported in the press. Blog posts and TV news channels aggregated tweets to demonstrate prevailing cultural trends or debates.
I had a conversation about this very topic recently with someone I met on, wait for it, the internet. It seems like everyone agrees that the internet has become bleak – a place where bad news, vapid content, and doom scrolling are algorithmically ensured.
Piper Sandler has published a survey of American teenagers twice a year since 2001, focusing on their favorite brands, gadgets, snacks and restaurants. This fall’s survey polled more than 9,000 teens across the U.S. in September who average just under 16 years old.

Paul McCartney Family Photos
For some reason, every fall, I think about Paul McCartney's family photos, and I begin thinking through the logistics of moving to the countryside and giving Sonny a childhood more connected to nature. Then I remember that I really don't like animals, I can't grow a beard, and they just don't make Fair Isle sweaters like that anymore.

📡 ADVANCED PATTERN RECOGNITION: ALIENS
Everything is accelerating. Pandemics. Global war. Wild ass weather. Exponential advancements in artificial intelligence. Robots doing backflips.
And amidst all this CHAOS, we are slowly being told that ALIENS are probably, MOST DEFINITELY REAL.
So why is this all happening at once? If my research is accurate, it's because our reality is about to SHIFT dramatically, and we are being prepared for the next chapter of our evolution.
Buckle up! It's gonna get WEIRD.
For the last 75 years, governments have spent denying and stigmatizing any idea or dialogue around alien life.
That worked when there wasn't a global network to share information.
Our personal use of technology has advanced to a point where it's impossible for the truth to be suppressed any longer.
So now we are experiencing an attempt to control the narrative – to slowly trickle information out so as to not alarm the masses all at once.
And it's working.
First, there were all the New York Times articles beginning in 2017:
Nobody cared.
Next, we had a very public congressional hearing:

The stigma around aliens has been so indoctrinated that people have been conditioned to shrug.

"I don't do focus groups"
Some Tesla engineers weren't fans of the Cybertruck's design, the automaker's design chief Franz von Holzhausen told Walter Isaacson.
"A majority of the people in this studio hated it," von Holzhausen said, according to the book. "They were like, 'You can't be serious.' They didn't want to have anything to do with it. It was just too weird."
Some Tesla engineers even took to covertly designing another version of the electric pickup after they saw a mock-up of the futuristic truck on display at SpaceX's showroom in Los Angeles during the summer of 2019.
"I don't do focus groups," Elon Musk said, according to Isaacson.
Rather than focus on adjusting the design, Musk told von Holzhausen that he wanted a driveable version of the vehicle that he could demo at a Tesla event in November, which von Holzhausen said "forced the team to come together, work twenty-four-seven," Isaacson wrote.
